Fresh Air Thinking
Most health problems in the workplace are caused by inhaling vapours, fumes and dust.
VOC air monitoring
Polymerised self-levelling floors have become a rapid, hard-wearing and economic alternative to traditional concrete, terrazzo and vinyl flooring systems. Self-levelling floors are especially popular in the retail sector for fast refurbishment of large stores but carry unique health and safety risks while the floor is being laid. Flammable and potentially toxic vapours are released during mixing and laying of what is an inert final product. Consequently, a bespoke monitoring service was developed for contractor and client, to minimise health risks to the workforce, reduce the risk of fire and explosion, and ensure compliance with Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations.
Over 50 incident-free flooring applications have been undertaken with Oceans ESU monitoring and providing advice and assistance to one client alone. Similar applications include spray painting, and other environments where flammable or toxic vapours, including epoxys, are present.
