Oceans-ESU Site Investigation Services
A carefully planned investigation of soil condition, gas risks and water quality will determine the extent of contamination on the site. Different jobs require different approaches, and Oceans-ESU Ltd will tailor the investigation to answer the questions that you need answered.
Desk-top Study
Historical research is undertaken to determine where contaminants might be located and what they might be. An array of land use databases and other source materials are used.
Preliminary Screening Investigation
The preliminary site investigation aims to corroborate information collated during the desk-top phase and to set the baseline for any further investigations if required. Trial pits and boreholes are excavated and samples of soil and groundwater collected at points within the site boundary. Sampling locations are determined by the information collected during the desk-top study phase.
Detailed Investigation
If warranted, Oceans-ESU will design and implement a more detailed investigation of the contamination on site in order to determine the extent of contamination and to target remedial efforts. Where groundwater is also contaminated, this too can be modelled and remediated.
Soil contamination is only a problem if it presents a risk to the wider environment or human end uses. In order to determine the level of risk, a comprehensive contaminant / pathway / receptor analysis model is used to produce a detailed risk assessment for individual sites, accurately identifying areas of contamination where remediation should be undertaken.
